Sonipat admin to scan arms licences issued from Nagaland

September 29, 2011 | by admin

Following instructions from the union home ministry regarding 352 arms licences issued from Nagaland, Sonipat district administration had decided to scan the licences as per directions from the government. Sonipat district magistrate (DM) Pankaj Aggrawal said on Tuesday that union home ministry issued instructions for deposit of 352 arms licences issued from 10 districts of Nagaland between August 24, 1987, and January 9, 2007.

He said the licences are to be deposited by the licence holders at the nearest police station. DM has sent list of 352 such licences to sub-divisional magistrates of Gohana, Ganaur and Sonipat and has asked them to comply with instructions. The district magistrate has also sent list of such licences to senior superintendent of police and all arms dealers.

The Centre recently revoked 352 licences after an inquiry which revealed that these licences had been issued without any authority of law. The list of such licences had been dispatched to all district magistrates for cancellation.
