NSACS RockAware grand finale today
The journey of NSACS RockAware – A Red Ribbon Superstar Campaign, 2011 to spread the message, “AIDS is our problem, we care” that took place in 11 districts has finally reached its final destination. The grand finale of NSACS RockAware contest would be held on Saturday at DDSC stadium, Dimapur from 4pm. Entry would be free.
Here, music lovers would be able to witness their favourite bands performing live on stage and through their music, spread the message ‘we all care’ to all the people living with HIV & AIDS.
The 11 selected bands who would be performing at the grand finale are Cadence from Kohima, Hardcore Addition from Phek, Cliffers from Kiphire, P-Brunch from Longleng, Tears of Judas from Tuensang, RASP from Mon, Maskil Praise from Peren, Avancer from Dimapur, In Da Name from Mokokchung, Anti-Trust from Zunheboto and last but not the least A.O.F. from Wokha.
The winner would walk away with a cash prize of `1 lakh while the first and second runners up would pocket `60,000 and `40,000 respectively.
The grand finale would also witness a world charmer, a fatherly figure in Indian music and a Grammy Winner Pt. Bishwas Mohan Bhatt who would be performing for 20 minutes at the grand finale. Other renowned local artistes like Alo Wanth Band, UFR Free Stylers and Melodrama would add more flavor to the evening.
Addressing media persons and the 11 bands at Jumping Bean Café on Friday, Pt. Bishwas Mohan Bhatt said he was always excited to be in Nagaland and expressed his happiness to see the talents here and the culture and love shown by the people.
He said, “Every musician in Nagaland is a great musician” and acknowledged that Nagaland was a “land of music”.
Expressing his solidarity with NSACS, Pt. Bishwas Mohan Bhatt said he has come to perform at the NSACS RockAware grand finale to support the cause and to contribute in the effort in halting and reversing the epidemic of HIV and AIDS in Nagaland. He also urged all to join hands to reduce the stigma of HIV and AIDS in the state.
As an encouragement to the 11 bands before the grand finale, the chief patron of the show, Music Task Force (YRS) Government of Nagaland music director, Gugs Chishi said, every band present deserved a place in the magical event (NSACS RockAware).
He further said through this platform, musicians have been associated to promote the cause and to care for every life on this earth so they could live a contended life. He also urged the bands to create a difference through their music and spread the message ‘we care’.
Meanwhile, NSACS project director, Dr. Nandira Changkija gave away the certificates and a cash award of `20,000 to all the district band winners.
NSACS RockAware is an initiative of NACO. The chief patron is Music Task Force (YRS) Government of Nagaland and Legislature Forum on AIDS LFA as the chief event partner.
Media partners include Nagaland Post, Eastern Mirror, Nagaland Page and The Morung Express while the event partners are Wishing Well Foundation, Unitexinc, Crescendo, Audio Garage, Neovision, Rattle and Hum Music Society, XL Believe Foundation and Dream Café.
The press conference was attended by NSACS project director, Dr. Nandira Changkija, MTF music director, Gugs Chishi, event co-ordinator, Theja Meru and NSACS RockAware brand ambassador, Renbeni Odyuo.
NSACS RockAware journey reached to 6140 students during its tour to 11 schools and 6 colleges and gathered a crowd of around 13,800 people in 11 concert halls all over the state.
Around 100 bands registered for the contest, out of which, 86 bands participated and finally 11 bands could make for the grand finale.
