Unity College Dimapur though in its nascent stage, living up to its motto, “Strive for Excellence”, has been making significant stride in all aspects- academic as well as infrastructure developments, said principal of the college, Dr. S.K. Chhabra.

The college was established in 2007 as a degree college with arts and commerce streams and with a mere enrollment of 113 students in the first year, its enrolment has increased to 520 in this academic session, he said while delivering the academic report on the college during the 5th Freshers’ social-cum-annual day of Unity College Dimapur on Saturday.

“Though we have made some achievement in various fields, the college has so many milestones to achieve;” he said and added that some unfinished agendas like permanent affiliation, UGC recognition, NAAC assessment and accreditation would be the aim of the college.

MLA, Azheto Zhimomi who graced the function in absence of minister for roads and bridges, Kaito Aye appreciated the college for its progress and achievements during the short span of time.

He termed the academic reports and infrastructure development of the college as not easy achievements and lauded the governing body, teaching faculty, staff and students for their cooperation and hard work.

Urging the students to understand the hard reality of today’s world, he challenged the students to dedicate themselves during their short span in the college in order to crack competitive exams and become selfless leaders so to become an asset to the society.

“To be successful in life, we have to rise above their weakness- and strive for excellence”, Azheto  said. Earlier, on his arrival, he inaugurated the library hall. He was accompanied by legislators, Y. Patton, Temjen Jamir, Toshipogkba and C.L. John. On the occasion Azheto also released the college magazine ‘Nurture IV’ and also gave away the prizes to the students and lecturers for their achievements.
