In preparation for ‘All Souls Day’ which falls on November 2, Catholic Church St. Francis De Sales (SFS Church) Parish, Kohima Town on Saturday conducted a mass social work at the Kohima Common Cemetery near BSF Camp.
Around 200 members of SFS parish took part in the social work by cleaning up the graveyard and clearing up weeds. Briefing on ‘All Souls Day’, SFS Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Philip Yangviithung said the Universal Catholic Church has the tradition of praying for the departed souls on November 2, adding that Christians pray for the departed souls so that God may grant them eternal rest.
The SFS Parish also expressed gratitude to all the members who turned up for the social work and well wishers who rendered help in various forms.
Meanwhile, ‘All Souls Day’ celebration will be held at the Common Cemetery on November 2, at 1pm with Celebration of Holy Eucharist and blessing of the tombs.
