Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Shambhu Singh maintained that the demand of ENPO for “Frontier Nagaland” was due to untold hardships and sufferings of the people of the area that required to be addressed.
Singh said this at a function in Tuensang town Friday during a visit to ENPO areas.
Singh also urged people to be patient as it was a matter of time before they would achieve their aspirations, like a mother who waits for nine months before the child is born. He however pointed out that aspiration for development needed to be addressed in a democratic way.
Singh also called upon people of the area to work and cooperate with each other for the common benefit of the entire society.
He disclosed that he would be returning back and by then, hoped to see progress and development in the area.
Singh also praised the people for preserving their respective identity,culture and traditional values and encouraged them to keep these alive.
The central team led by Shambhu Singh and Col. Chauhan, director MO-2, also visited Pangsha International Trade Centre.
Cultural dances were also presented by Chang, Yimchungru, Khiamniungan and Sangtam.
The public reception programme was chaired by Chingmak vice president ENPO while the welcome address was delivered by Mangko Phom president ENPO and vote of thanks proposed by Toshiwungtung general secretary ENPO. Beso Chang president, GB’s Federation spoke on behalf of the general public. Thousands of students from various schools have also attended at the programme.
