Different Garo organizations in Nagaland viz. Nagaland Garo Tribal Council, All Nagaland Garo National Association, All India Garo Union, Nagaland Zone, GSU, Nagaland Zone and Garo Woman Association collectively celebrated the 10th Wangala festival on November 21 at Samaguri Village.
Various garo organizational leaders who spoke in the programme stressed on preservation of culture and tradition and also to lives in unity amongst the brother without which there will be no progress in the society. Some leaders also expressed concern about the management of Garo Morung (Nokpante) at Kisama, Kohima thereby to uphold the good names of the Garos.
NGTC Tarun Momin president, appealed upcoming youth to be more competitive minded and urged them to venture into various field such as games & sports, art & culture, business and most importantly in their studies to be successful in life.
Sh. Ephilson Sang, Convenor, Wangala celebration committee briefly explained about Wangala festival.
The garos being mainly farmers celebrated this festival; it is a post harvest festival of the garos where the almighty god is offers thanksgiving sacrifice for his kindness and blessing shown towards the human being.
It is also a festival of joy, dance and feasting. During this festival, the young and old are adorn with garo traditional dress and ornaments.
