‘Education must to overcome backward tag’

Tribunal general of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) Mutsikhoyo Yhobu said one has to attain quality education in order to overcome backwardness tag.

Speaking as the chief guest during the 31st general session of Khutsokhuno Students’ Union at Khutsokhuno village under Tizü area in Phek district on Saturday, he said that it was high time people of the village took up education seriously to be at par with others.

Citing that the Government has been implementing Right to Education Act and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, he said under this, every child can attain free and compulsory education.

He also encouraged parents and guardians of children not to put them (children) under pressure to deal with trivial matters but to provide them better opportunity through education, which in turn would help them in building a better future.

Exhorting the students, Yhobu challenged them to be dedicated and firm in order to become successful in life and also try to build themselves up educationally.

Reiterating NSF’s stand for total review of the job reservation policy of the state government, he said that Tizu area needed special attention as it was one of the most backward areas among the Chakhesang community.

Also speaking on the impact of global warming and climate change, he called upon the villagers to preserve and protect the bio-diversity and also stop hunting of wild animals.

Khutsokhuno VDB Secretary Khruvelhu Vero graced the occasion as guest of honour, which commenced with Shetsoyi Chizo pronouncing the invocation.

KSU president Mhalusa Vero delivered the presidential address while Besuveyi Rhakho delivered the vote of thanks and local pastor Viazhe Chizo said the benediction.

Yhobu was accompanied by PA to Parliamentary Secretary Yitachu, Razuchi Chizo.
Mention may be made here that Khutsokhuno village is one of the most backward areas under Tizu area of Phek district, which does not have a single gazette officer till date while there are hardly nine of them serving the state government.

They have only one Government Primary School with four teachers and the aspiring students have to leave their village to pursue further education in Phek town.
