Calling it a “personal attack”, the Sumi Totimi Hoho (STH) Thursday condemned the caution notice served on Sumi Hoho vice president Kitoho Rotokha by NSCN (K) December 28.

NSCN (K), in a statement, December 28 alleged that Sumi Hoho, “misguided” by Kitoho Rotokha, in order to facilitate establishment of “Khehoi’s designated camp”, “unnecessarily and irrelevantly implied removal” of NSCNs’ designated camps at Ghathashi and Suruhuto.

NSCN (K) also alleged that Rotokha, despite “repeated reminder” to desist from “misusing” Sumi Hoho office “merely to serve factional interest”, “exceeded his official obligation” and “without doubt become an outspoken activist of Khehoi camp.”

Refuting NSCN (K) allegation, Sumi Totimi Hoho (STH), in a joint statement issued by its president Kitoli Naje and press secretary Faustina Arkha, said the “decision was made” by all the Sumi frontal organisations “because of violations of Cease-fire Ground Rules” by “different factions”.
STH said such violations had caused “insecurity and tension” to citizens of Zunheboto and surrounding villages.

Therefore, STH urged the NSCN (K) to “immediately” withdraw its notice and “realize that any statement made by any member of an organization is just a representative and not just his/her personal thought.”

Stating that NSCN (K) release was “an anti-democratic view” where the “very basic right of speech” was being “threatened”, the Sumi Totimi Hoho said: “we urge all the right thinking citizens to condemn such threats and enable people to speak and act in a way where we all enjoy our rights and to fulfill our duty as responsible citizens of Nagaland.”

Meanwhile, All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) also “vehemently” condemned the statement, issued by NSCN (K) against Sumi Hoho vice president Kitoho Rotokha, which asked Rotokha to immediately resign from the Hoho.

SKK, through a statement issued by its president Nihoyi Kinnimi, stated that a leader working in the “general interest” of the public should not be “misconstrued as working for certain faction or group.”

“Whatever decision that the Sumi Hoho takes is a collective decision and not decided by one person or office bearer alone,” said SKK. It also asserted since it was a “collective decision” taken in the interest of the larger public, any faction or group should “desist from targeting a particular office bearer.” Further, SKK also demanded that NSCN (K) “immediately” withdraw the statement against Sumi Hoho vice president.
