Minister for forest, environment, ecology, wildlife and excise M.C. Konyak lamented that corruption begins at the grass root level by village developmental board (VDB) because VDB schemes are not implemented judiciously.

Addressing the inaugural function of new RD Block at Aboi on February 25, Konyak appealed to the RD department to create awareness among village functionaries about guidelines of various VDB schemes and suggested the presence of block development officers (BDOs) during the annual plan meeting of VDBs in the village.

He said with the creation of 22 RD blocks in the state, the burden of BDOs covering many villages have been minimized and expected good performance from the department.

He also called upon the people to change their mindset and strive hard to catch up with the fast changing world.
