Martina Navratilova has had an incredible makeover for participating in ‘Dancing With The Stars’, the US version of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
Though the Record-breaking tennis champ ended in last place, she was visibly delighted after being swept round the ballroom by partner Tony Dovolani on Monday’s first show. She revealed that it was her first time in a dress since 20 years.
“This is more feminine, but not sexy. We’ll do the sexy later,” she said. On being asked if she could get used to her new look, the 55-year-old star replied: “Absolutely. My girlfriend has been trying to get me to wear a dress, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen. Maybe high heels. But not a dress!”
The champ regarded the show as a personal challenge as she had been afraid of dancing in public since she was 14. “Ever since I was 14 I’ve had this fear of dancing in public.
I was scared of flying, so I got my pilot’s licence. I’m scared of dancing, so what better way to conquer my fear than on Dancing With The Stars.”
Navratilova is up against the likes of singer Gladys Knight, Little House On The Prairie actress Melissa Gilbert and Welsh opera star Katherine Jenkins.
