Aoleang festival in Phek, Leangha village

Konyak Union Phek celebrated Aoleang festival on April 5. The festival was graced by deputy commissioner Phek, Nikhashe Sema as the special guest. Speaking on the occasion, the special guest said without God, there would be no government.

“There is time for everything like the seed, which rise after germination, so also in the ‘Aoleang Festival’ celebration God is the seed, the harvest which everyone seeks, yet education of the children is the harvest”, the DC said.

He added that children who act as an umbrella should be nourished and taken care of at the right time.
EAC Phek Anyie, SDPO Phek Limi Sangtam, president ENPU Phek Unit also spoke on the occasion. Other highlights of the programme include indigenous songs.

Leangha village: Leangha village celebrated Aoleang festival with minister for roads and bridges G. Kaito Aye, on April 3 at local Football Ground, Leangha.

Addressing at the programme, the minister called upon people of Leangha to build good relationship with other tribes and community while celebrating Aoleang festival in the righteous way.

Stressing on peace and unity of the Nagas, he urged people to spread the good message of peace and love of Aoleang to other community and uphold the cultural identity of the Nagas.

In his short speech, Chingwang MLA asserted that with the advancement of Christianity, the customs and traditions of the Naga people was fading away and urged people to preserve the good culture and traditions of the Nagas.

Earlier, MLA Chingwang Konyak inaugurated the Council Hall of Leangha village. The Chief Angh of Leangha, president KU Khoiwang, Gopang Konyak and Ex-MLA C. John also spoke at the programme.  The celebration was marked by cultural dances/songs and beating of the log drum.
