Kohima district ASHA convention organized by district health society, NRHM, department of health and family welfare was held on April 5 at para medical training institute Kohima.
The programme was attended by different programme officers such as Dr. Niketu, Chubala Pongener, ASHA nodal officer and Ruth Sekhose, ASHA coordinator from the directorate of health and family welfare, Kohima.
Kovi Meyase, additional deputy commissioner, Kohima was the chief guest. Lauding ASHA link workers, the ADC said their job was both humanitarian and sacrificial, as they have to care for and save the lives of both the pregnant mother and baby.
He said ASHA link workers have a big responsibility and in order to give their best service, they have to put their heart and soul to their work.
In conclusion to his speech, he quoted that ASHAs’ should be called “Activist with Hope’’.
Officials from the state too encouraged district ASHAs for their hard work and for rendering health needs to the community.
The chief guest also gave an award to the 5 best ASHA link workers from the district.
The programme was chaired by Dr. L. Ralte, chief medical officer.
Altogether 140 ASHAs attended the convention.
