New link road to connect three districts to Mariani

Khar-Mangkolemba link road which provides the shortest vehicular link road to travelers from parts of Mokokchung district and Longleng and Tuensang districts to reach Mariani (Assam) was inaugurated by Parliamentary Secretary Rural Development and REPA on April 9.

The road about seven kilometers, which passes through uneven Changkikong Range, was constructed under MGNREGS during 2010 – 11 and 2011-12.

Speaking at the inaugural function after unveiling the stone, Pangnyu Phom lauded the people of Khar for conceiving the idea to construct the road which he said would not only save time for the travelers of Eastern parts of Nagaland but would give a pleasant and comfortable journey.

He asked the villagers to maintain the road saying this important link road falls ‘under Khar village jurisdiction.
He also stressed on the need to forge unity, while adding that unity among the people was key to bring in all round development in the state.

Senior government officials from rural development department who also addressed the function called for prioritizing the schemes according to the need of the people.

Parliamentary secretary was accompanied by additional director, Waichiba, Joint Director Imlimeren, project director DRDA Mokokchung, Immotemjen, project director DRDA Phek, Shayong and vice president NPF Dr. Longri.
