Aggrieved Teachers’ Association of Nagaland (ATAN) to resume ‘indefinite hunger-strike’

April 11, 2012 | by admin

Aggrieved Teachers’ Association of Nagaland (ATAN) has resolved to resume the “indefinite hunger-strike” from April 18 in Dimapur and Kohima following the expiry (April 10) of the ultimatum served to the government for implementation of Cabinet approval.

In a statement ATAN said the decision was made during the general meeting held on Tuesday. “Despite submitting several representations and getting written assurances from the government for early redressal of Aggrieved teachers issue” ATAN said the “governments’ attitude has been apathetic which reflects lack of will and intent to solve the long pending humanitarian crisis faced by the deprived teachers.”

In this regard Dimapur district ATAN members have been directed to assemble outside the DEO’s office and the remaining districts to assemble outside the directorate of School Education, Kohima by 9. a.m. ATAN further stated that “non-cooperating members will be doing so on their on risk”.
