May 11, 2012 | by admin

Event groups such as Impact Media, Guwahati and NEEC, Imphal are organizing a two-day educational expo here in Dimapur.

The two-day educational expo at the covenant hall, Christian Higher Secondary School, Dimapur which began on Thursday has been organized as many students are looking to link up with prestigious and award winning colleges all across India and abroad.

The same event groups just concluded the expo in Manipur and Assam with many students enrolling themselves in different colleges.

Indrajit Das, one of the partners from Impact Media said they wanted to make this expo a regular affair since its main aim was to create awareness amongst the younger generation about universities and importance of higher education.

He also mentioned of how students when after passing their higher secondary exams are still intimidated to go outside, and hoped with this expo, many parents and students would get maximum help and exposure in choosing the perfect college.

Altogether there are 27 colleges and universities participating in this year’s expo, hailing as far as from Mysore and Dehradun.

Toinali Zhimomi, a student from Livingstone higher Secondary school who was also present at the expo was happy that she could now know more about different colleges as choosing the right  college would be one of the biggest decisions in her life.

Further, colleges that are taking part in the expo have linked up with banks granting education loan to students for pursuing higher education in India and abroad.

One such college is Nangfang Medical College under the group Saraswationline.com where one can complete MBBS in China. Four students from Dimapur are already studying at the University after passing the Medical Council of India’s screening test New Delhi.

Till date, 17 students from Nagaland have enrolled themselves. The college offers a 5 year course for just 7.9 lakhs and one can even pay in installments of 1.5 lakhs a year.

Another prestigious college where one can get good quality education without burning his/her pocket is Vidhya Vikas educational Trust located in Mysore, Karnataka.

Offering over 30 plus courses except medical, many students found the fee structure attractive ranging from Rs.55000 to Rs.1.25 lakhs a year for any course.

The college is also planning an excursion trip to the college in Mysore for 11th and 12th standard students from Nagaland.

The main question most students had in mind was the availability of jobs after completing the courses offered. Not just regular courses but also newer ones that have been introduced like in plastic engineering and technology that the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology offers (CIPET), Chennai.

It was evident that many students were keenly aware of the importance of higher education and appreciated that a degree from a reputed or International institute will give them the essentials for competing in the job front.

Meanwhile, event team informed that the proposed rock show at Town Hall Dimapur featuring ‘Melodrama’ band on May 12 has been postponed till further notice. To get hold of the pass for the show, one may produce his/her student ID card at one of the counters at the expo.
