Armed miscreants arrested

Two miscreants identified as Seiminla Hangsing (23), son of Seikhothang Hangsing of Phanjang village, Ahthibung, and Jangkholal Hmar (30), son of K. Seingul Hmar of Bongkholong village, Ahthibung, were arrested by Dimapur police on May 30 from West Yard Colony for possessing one .32 pistol.

According to police, the two accused were arrested from a hotel on receiving a complaint from the public stating that the duo were threatening the residents of the locality. A case was registered against the accused at East PS.

In another incident, Dimapur police manning Chumukedima check gate on May 31 detected and seized 100 bottles of “Cufex” cough syrup and 94 bottles of “Ceasecof” cough syrup from a truck (NLO1K-3124) which was proceeding towards Kohima.

Police said the restricted drugs were found concealed in the vehicle along with other goods. The driver of the truck was later identified as Rohit Chetry (22) and the handyman as Bhim Chetry (21). They were arrested and forwarded to Diphupar police station where a case was registered.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident on May 27, Dimapur police manning Chumukedima check gate on checking a truck (NLO1G-4765) recovered 140 kgs of contraband ganja valued at around Rs.1 Lakh in the international market.

The driver of the truck was identified as Thingeijam Arun Singh (25), son of Ibohani Singh of Thoubal district, Manipur, and a case registered against him at Diphupar police station.
