Youth Expo at Longleng

Parliamentary secretary for youth resources and sports and land revenue, K. Naiba Konyak inaugurated the Youth Expo 2012 at Longleng on June 7 as chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Naiba said the government has been providing funds and facilities in various fields for youth and advised interested sports persons to take it as a profession assuring them all possible assistance and help from the department of youth resource and sports.

He also called upon the Phom youth to take the lead in building the society and to compete in competitive exams so as to fill the gap of backwardness while citing the example of many Phom youth who have succeed specially in competitive exams.

He encouraged students to have the right attitude and to be humble and punctual in their work, adding tribalism should be rooted out completely as it has created problems and differences in present Naga society.

In the programme, traditional welcome song was presented by Yachem Students Union, invocation prayer by Woman Secy. PBCA, B. Angbhen, welcome address by Chaupong, president Phom Students Conference and a traditional lullaby by Tamlu Students Union. Short speech was also given by deputy commissioner Longleng, K. Libanthung Lotha.

The chief guest also inaugurated the exhibition stalls where folk dance by Pongo Students Union and Pongching Students Union, Bamboo climbing by Bura Namsang Students Union and exhibition game tug of war between VDB secretaries and village council chairmen were the other highlights of the programme.
