Project director DRDA Visasole Lhoungu Friday appreciated the villagers and leaders of Khriezephe village for properly utilizing the funds and implementing the project for the development of the village.
Inaugurating the minor irrigation dam and channel at Khriezephe village Dimapur, the project director told the gathering that he was happy the way the village was executing the work and urged the village to show example to other villages on how to utilize the funds meant for development.
He said that many villages have not even utilized the funds and that not a single inauguration was done in some villages till now.
“As per the money released by the government everyday, there should be inauguration of various projects in the villages but this was not happening”, the project director added.
The project director pointed out that leadership crisis in some villages was the main reason blocking developmental activities in the village.
“For development there should be unity, understanding and cooperation among the villagers, money is not the problem”, he added. Pointing out that the government has now given the power and decision to implement projects and at the same time utilization of funds to the villagers, the project director told the villagers that it was not up to the department for the development of their villages.
VDB secretary K. James Vizo in his brief speech informed that the project was constructed at the cost of Rs. 15 lakh.
He said that funds were being judiciously utilized by the leaders and transparency maintained while executing various projects in Khriezephe village. It was due to this reason, Khriezephe village has not become one of the cleanest blocks in the implementation of projects, he added.
“When funds were used judiciously government will be happy and department would also be happy, and many more development would come up in the village”, said Vizo. Further he appreciated state chief minister Neiphiu Rio for his all round effort in carrying out “massive developments” in various districts.
Earlier, inauguration of minor irrigation and dam and channel was dedicated by pastor, Puzhodi Kikhi. BDO Medziphema, Tzudi and VCC Khriezephe village, Khriezo Punyii also spoke at the inaugural programme.
