Oldest colony in state capital gets health sub-centre

Daklane, one of the oldest colonies in state capital finally got a separate new sub-centre building located next to Panchayat Hall which was formally inaugurated by Principal Director Health and Family Welfare, Dr. K. Yangerlemla on Thursday.

The principal director  soon after the inauguration of the new sub-centre building expressed surprise at how the building was constructed with sanctioned amount of `5 lakhs within a record eight months time.

She thanked the colony for making the building a reality. She expressed hope that the sub-centre will be a vital point not only for the colony members but for every citizen as it located between two main roads in the state capital.

Earlier, sub-centres used to provide only first aid but now, it functions as a centre for providing health care to pregnant mothers, nutrition, safe delivery, vector borne diseases, malaria and TB, she reminded and asked the staff to be sincere in their attendance and also confine themselves not only in the centre but also visit households and ensure proper immunization to all children.

She reminded that Kohima being the capital city, is the index of the state and expressed that any visitors particularly central officials may make flying visit to the sub-centres without any pre-information as experienced in the past.

In this regard, she urged the staff to be vigilant and remain in their posting place because their negligence could cost the entire state of its due share of fund from the centre.

She also stressed on the importance of proper record keeping, management and timely submission of reports and reminded that if they failed, it would be a shame for the state.

“If we’re not performing, we might not get the support of the various centrally sponsored schemes”, she said and reminded that the department and the sub-centres are getting various support from the NRHM scheme.

She further stressed that no work no pay should be strictly applied for those staff who goes out of their posting place without prior information or consent of their respective CMO’s.

Earlier, the chairman of Daklane Panchayat S.Ghunakha Swu in his welcome address said the inauguration of the new sub-centre building which was constructed at a cost of `6.5 lakh will be remembered by the future generation.

He informed that the Panchayat received a sanction of Rs.5 Lakh in July last year and through mobilization of additional funds, the new building was completed in record eight months time.

He termed the inauguration of the new sub-centre building as a mission accomplished and thanked all his colleagues and the residents of the colony for their support and cooperation.

Earlier, the sub-centre has been functioning from the Panachayat building for several years. The function was chaired by Dr. Puse, convenor and chairman, urban health committee, Daklane while Vibielie Metha, vice chairman, Daklane Panchayat proposed vote of thanks.
