University Grants Commission workshop on capacity building of women manager

A 5-day University Grants Commission (UGC) workshop on capacity building of women managers in higher education organised by Nagaland University, Kohima Campus started Monday at Jubilee Memorial Centre, Lerie, Kohima.

Speaking as chief guest, director, department of women development, Neilavoü Keditsu urged participants to equip with good knowledge and carryout the responsibility in society especially for the welfare of women while citing example of Malaysia and Singapore where women represent 30% in decision making and in public sector. She felt that women must also be approachable in their work place.

Prof. Archana Sharma Guwahati University, Prof. Susheela Kaushik and Prof. Nasreen Rustomfrain Tata Institute of social sciences Mumbai also addressed the the inaugural programme. The programme was chaired Dr. Buno Liegise Associate professor Nagaland University, Temjen Longchar and friend presented special song, T. Kithan local coordinator introduced the present members.

The afternoon technical session was taken by Dr. Lucy Zehol on ‘women’s studies perspective’. On day-2 of the workshop, Farida Haque would speak on ‘Women and governance’, day-3 ‘Women and academic leadership’ by T.Kithan and Minakshi Hazarika, on day-4 Rosemary Dzuvichü on ‘Customary rights and women’s right” and Valentina Pakyntein on ‘Personal and professional roles’ and day-5 Dr. Anungla Aier on ‘Women and research’.

Abeni TCK member Nagaland state women commission would grace the valedictory function on July 20 as chief guest. College principals, women leaders, academician, NU officials and others attended the programme.
