Youth Association of Nagaland clarifies

In a delayed report, Youth Association of Nagaland (YAN) has clarified that the selection of ‘YAN Ambassador’ among the Miss Dimapur 2012 hopefuls was conducted at AIDA complex without any prior information and formalities to the contestants so as to judge their intellect, their insight and quick thinking.

They also that the result of ‘YAN Ambassador’ was not declared on July 19. Based mainly on beauty and brains, the last minute preparations was assisted by the present Miss Dimapur who also holds the title (YAN Ambassador).

During the interaction, contestants felt they failed to understand as to why the viewers objected and made fun of the swimsuit round. The contestants besides feeling humiliated with their photos pasted with “unruly remarks” on social networking site, added the act was totally uncalled for.

The organizers also said they were trying to bring a change and standardize the contest by introducing the bikini round, which is applicable when it comes to participating in any beauty pageants.

Being their first time, the contestants admitted they were at first “uncomfortable” in bikinis but took it as a challenge, adding it also boosted their morale.
