Knowledge for Action Now (K-FAN) project supported by UNAIDS has been implemented in the two high HIV prevalence states of Northeast – Nagaland and Manipur with one local partner for implementation in each state. Prodigals’ Home is the local partner for Nagaland.
K-FAN project aims to support existing targeted intervention and other HIV prevention programs by enhancing action through strengthened participation and mobilization based on the exchange of knowledge and experiences. Capacity building is integrated throughout K-FAN’s design to strengthen sustainability.
The essence of this event which to be held on August 10, 10am at AIDA centre, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur with Dr. Changkija, Project Director, NSACS as the chief guest, is to show solidarity towards high risk groups/individuals whilst promoting better understanding among young people and communities on health, HIV and rights issues.
Through this event, the communities and youth from across the state will share the issues/problems they face in their own state through various mediums like skit/drama, painting, songs, etc, so that the various problems confronting them are highlighted and possible solutions can be collectively chalked out.
Along with the Community (MSM, Vulnerable Women, IDU, PLHA & Youth) and the participating NGOs, the following stakeholders are invited for this event: Social Welfare Dept, NSACS, DAPCU, N Naga DAO, Nagaland Legislative Forum (NLF), ORCHID, medical department, state legal authority, UNDPS, NERO, CFAR, police department, youth department, faith based organization/churches, media, excise department.
There will be two session – the first session would be the Inaugural programme along with the panel discussion on the topic “Fusion of knowledge and solidarity towards drug user, vulnerable women, MSM and PLHAs” and the second session with the theme “Community knowledge sharing fair” would include showcasing of various items by the community members along with Extempore speech on issues of HIV and Drugs/Human rights and a debate on “lifting of prohibition on Alcohol”. In addition, there will also be poster and painting competitions.
