NWVA: As part of the 66th Independence Day celebration, Nagaland Women Voluntary Association (NWVA) visited Spastic Society of Nagaland at Red Cross building Kohima on August 15
The visiting team was led by Kaisa Rio, wife of state chief minister Neiphiu Rio who spoke and interacted with the differently abled persons.
NWVA also distributed sweets and food items to the children. Earlier Pastor P. Ngully while delivering the welcome address informed that Spastic Society of Nagaland came into existence in the year 1997 and has so far 80 registered disabled children.
RCK: Rotary Club Kohima celebrated the 66th Independence Day at orphanage home along with around 79 children, Rotarians, rotractors and well wishers. The function was chaired by Rtn. Dr. Neisatuo Mero president Rotary Club Kohima, invocation proposed by Rtn. Dr. Kezevituo Keditsu, and message by Rtn. Er. Vikoutuolie Angami.
Jakhama and Jalukie: Along with the rest of the country, Jakhama sub-division and Jalukie town observed 66th Indian Independence Day by hoisting the national tri-colour flag all the government institutions and offices.
Lions and Leo Club of Dimapur: Lions and Leo Club of Dimapur celebrated Independence Day at Lions Centre. Lion Praveen Jain hoisted the flag in the presence of members of the Lions, Blue Vanda and Leo Club of Dimapur which was followed by national anthem and flag salutation.
The members later visited Mother Teresa Charitable Home and distributed steel almirah, medicines and food items etc under the chairmanship of Lion Ravi Poddar.
Later the members visited Prodigals Home where they distributed beds and food items etc., under the chairmanship of Leo Sumit Jain. Leo Club also funded school fees of an inmate at Prodigals Home.
5, 6 20, 29, 31, 32 Assam Rifles: Along with the rest of the country, IGAR (North) on the occasion of 66th Independence Day, took the opportunity to highlight the selfless service rendered by Assam Rifles to Nagaland and to the nation.
5 Sect Assam Rifles under Headquarters IGAR (North) participated in the Independence Day celebration at the Secretariat ground at Kohima.
To promote awareness and bonhomie amongst the masses, a stall on ‘Know your Assam Rifles’ was placed at the secretariat premises giving insight into the role and the varied tasks being performed by Assam Rifles.
Meanwhile, AoR 6 Sect AR joined the celebration bringing a feeling of brotherhood amongst the troops and local populace.
6 Sect AR also provided assistance to civil authorities and local populace in Dimapur and Peren district instilling a sense of pride, nationalism and projected a positive image of Assam Rifles. HQ 6 Sect AR celebrated the event with flag hoisting ceremony followed by a Barakhana for 15 ex-servicemen at Sect HQ.
A pipe band of 20 AR participated in the celebration organized by Medziphema sub division near divisional office.
29 AR organized a volunteer service for cleanliness of the Dimapur Town to mark the occasion, wherein strengths of 66 personnel of 29 AR carried out cleanliness and road maintenance of a stretch on NH 29 from Kashiram Basti to DC Court. 32 AR participated in the celebration held at DC office, Peren.
31 AR celebrated with great fervor jointly with district administration and ex-servicemen which was followed by distribution of sweets to the children of Assam Rifles High School. A barakhana was also organized for the ex-servicemen of Mokokchung. District and gallantry award winners were felicitated by the Battalion.
