Dimapur Muslim Public Forum (DMPF) has condemned the spate of violence against the people of the northeast in Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore as ramification of communal clash in Bodoland (Assam).
The forum in a press release issued by its general secretary, G.M Babar, stated that whatever might have happened in Bodoland was altogether a different issue and the general people of the northeastern states have nothing to do with the same nor do they have any connection with the issue.
It also said that the Muslims were living in Nagaland peacefully with patronage and support from the Nagas and such incidents of attack on any Naga students/professionals living outside northeast would simply make the situation more volatile.
The forum also urged upon the respective state governments to ensure safety and security of the students and professionals from Nagaland.
YAN: Youth Association of Nagaland (YAN) has condemned the attack on north east people in Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad stating such action displayed their “ill motive, hatred and discrimination” against the people of the region.
In a release, YAN said “such racial attitude meted towards our people has not only created fear psychosis among the minds of our people but also feeling of insecurity”.
The association strongly appealed to the union government to come out with appropriate law to tackle such “crime committed against its own people”.
