Drawing the attention of state government with regard to various discrepancies and failure to address the problems faced by people of Noklak sub-division Tuensang, Pathso Range Students’ Union (PRSU) said eight villages under Noklak were without EAC since 2009.

PRSU president T. Tangsoi and general secretary S. Muchu in a press release said that almost every school in the sub-division were facing shortage of staff while roads in villages were non-motorable.

PRSU said the only road that connects Noklak sub-division was not “motorable” and the road connecting Tuensang district headquarters from Pathso was blocked by landslide since June 2012.

Further, the union said the new approach road via Shamator, the only remaining lifeline neglected by the Nagaland public works department (NPWD) are managed by the passengers.

With regard to health sector, it said, PHC Panso and sub-center Tsuwao lacks adequate staff or medicines and alleged that due to “direct impact of poor health care facilities” and road transport, 29 deaths were reported this year alone in the joint village of Pathso, Pathso Nokeng and Ekhao. On power supply, the union also alleged that the area was reeling under darkness and that out of the five departmental field workers in the area, four have been transferred without reliever.

Taking all this into account, PRSU has urged government to consider the grievances as a “wake-up call, as the brunt of negligence on the ground has become unbearable for the people of Pathso range.”
