Phom Peoples’ Council, Phom Students’ Conference and Phomla Hoichem (Phom Women’s Organization) have lauded the “concrete on-going investigation” by SIT of Assam (Jorhat) and Nagaland State (Longleng) in the brutal murder case of late Benthang Phom and late Tiakala Phom.
A joint statement issued by PPC president H. Leisha Phom, PH president A. Shamthai Phom and PSC president Chaupong Leinak stated that no bail application of the accused and the suspects apprehended should not be entertained as that tantamount to “miscarriage of due and natural justice”.
The three NGOs further appealed for calm and requested the public to maintain peace and tranquility between the people of the two states, adding, the three NGOs and public of Phom community would not rest till befitting punishment was awarded to the guilty.
