GPRN/NSCN condemns actions by NSCN (I-M) cadres

GPRN/NSCN Monday expressed its dismay and condemned the actions of NSCN (I-M) cadres who arrested its members and accused the group of not even sparing “unarmed workers” in and around Senapati, Shepoumaranth region.

In a statement, GPRN/NSCN MIP said the public call to cease all forms of factional clashes to uphold the spirit of brotherhood for reconciliation has fallen into the deaf ears of NSCN (I-M) cadres.

According to GPRN/NSCN, various political groups came together and decided to work towards a shared Naga common future by signing the “Naga concordant” which agreed that there would be only “one Naga political solution”.

Since May 2008, Naga political leaders took up courageous step to narrow down differences making it possible for Nagas to experience relative calm with cessation of “hostilities among brethrens”, said MIP.

However, MIP rued that despite GPRN/NSCN’s enthusiasm for reconciliation, “five national workers of GPRN/NSCN” were arrested under the directive of ‘brigadier’ Souni of NSCN (I-M), commander of Huthrong brigade.

Stating the arrests were detrimental to reconciliation, MIP listed GPRN/NSCN members who were arrested by NSCN (I-M) cadres as ‘razu peyu’ Kaisu (Rocky), arrested on March 2012 and released on bail after three months with a fine of Rs. 20000/- and ‘sgt.maj’ Alas  arrested on June 29 and released with the fine of Rs.20000/-,

MIP said in August this year alone, NSCN (I-M) cadres have arrested three “Naga Armies” namely ‘sgt.maj.’ Loli Moses arrested on August 22, ‘luit’.  Deikho arrested on August 26, ‘capt.’ Kumar arrested on August 29 and they were still in the group’s custody.

GPRN/NSCN opined that “arrogance” of the commander, Huthrong brigade demoralized the commitment of “six top leaders” and said it was compelled to release a press statement so that the NSCN (I-M) higher-ups took corrective measures before it was too late.

MIP pointed out that there was the need to show greater understanding to “each other’s concerns and sensitivities” and added that it was time to move beyond reiteration of positions and instead uphold the “ethical commitment” of leaders at any cost.
