Nzan Welfare Society (NWS), Walford, Dimapur, has sought the attention of the state government and R&B department with regard to the pathetic road condition of Walford by-pass road, Old Dhansiri bridge to NH-29.
NWS chairman, Nzan Shitiri, in a press statement stated that it defied the logic as to how authorities could neglect an important “arterial” road ofte used byVIPs, VVIPs, government officials, civil servants, public leaders and common men.
The statement said that the road was left unattended for the last 8 to 10 years by the authorities concerned when work order was issued twice of which the colony citizens were unaware, thus leaving the road “unrepaired” and money “fraudulently drawn”.
It also stated that even pedestrians cannot not take the route due to perennial water logging and the condition was worse for school kids. The society further added if “Road Shows” were its major achievement according to the government, then the pathetic roads in Kohima was the other face of “government’s apathetic attitude”.
It further requested the department concerned that in case it decides to blacktop the road, then work should be allotted to the contractors with proven track record preferably picked by Walford area council.
