District Congress Committee Tuensang slams government over NH-155 repair works

District Congress Committee Tuensang (DCCT) has expressed its dismay over the delay in repairing the sinking area at 59 km NH-155 near Mangakhi which still continued to cause immense hardship to the people of the area for the past two months.

DCCT Tuesday met Old Mangakhi Village Council (MVC) members and deliberated on situation along the highway. DCCT president N. Mosha Chang questioned the state government for remaining a mute spectator when the main lifeline of the people was completely cut off from the rest of the state.

He said such kind of ill-treatment meted out to the citizens would be no longer tolerated and urged upon the government and responsible authority to take appropriate measures at the earliest.

DCCT members also lauded the Old Mangakhi villagers for rendering valuable support and working together towards demanding early completion of the road repair while stating that the situation has led to skyrocketing the prices of essential commodities.

On being asked why the same work was not completed, PWD (NH) Division III executive engineer K. Imnajungba Jamir clarified that the weather condition was the main cause of delay in the completion of the road and assured opening up the highway for light vehicle within few days.  MVC chairman also said that the work has been delayed due to incessant rainfall in the area.

At present, PWD (NH) is providing one JCB and a bulldozer with few labourers at the site. DCCT has urged the department to expedite the work and complete it at the earliest.
