Former finance minister and senior Congress leader K Therie said Neiphiu Rio’s nine and half-year DAN government has “doomed the economy” of Nagaland for decades to come.
Talking to NEPS here Thursday, Therie alleged that the debt Rio created in the period as chief minister would burden the coming generations. He said though Rio as DAN chief minister constructed some buildings in the state but they were “non-generating assets.”
Opining that Rio has doomed the state’s economy for decades to come, Therie said “our resources have never been improved, neither could he (Rio) take a firm decision to explore to improve them.”
Therie slammed Rio as lacking in “economic vision” and alleging that he was “better” in collecting commissions. “I think his knowledge is limited to that,” Therie added.
Expressing dismay over series of scams and scandals in the under Rio’s ministry, Therie said took a jibe by saying “I don’t know which department doesn’t have a scam now.”
He said the current environment in the state was full of corruption.
Against the backdrop of approaching assembly elections, Therie said the electorate in Nagaland should now meticulously scrutinize the present state of affairs under Rio’s DAN ministry that afflicted the people and decide to elect “God fearing people for a God fearing government.”
Therie said it was only then that “we may be able to bring a change to our people.”
