ICFAI University Nagaland conducted a memorial lecture on the theme “Higher Education in Nagaland” on October 8 to commemorate the first death anniversary of late N. J Yasaswy, the founder of ICFAI group with Prof. K.P Avikasit of Wangkhao government college, Mon, as guest speaker.
Avikasit stressed on the importance of introducing different new courses in the university which would provide better avenues for employment and also for preparation of a ground for strong foundation of quality education in the state.
Avikasit stated that late Yasaswy lived up to his name and while drawing the attention of the audience, said the state needed more such universities especially in remote places, at the same time, stressed on the importance of infrastructure and research in institutions of higher learning.
Dr. (Col) VRK Prasad, vice-chancellor, ICFAI university, Nagaland, in his message thanked the speaker for his presence and also appealed to one and all to re-dedicate themselves for the development of higher education in the state which would be the most befitting tribute to the late founder who was a lone crusader in promoting higher education in the entire northeast.
During the programme, a life sketch of late N.J Yasaswy was delivered by Dr. C. P Alexander, Dean, ICFAI university, vote of thanks by joint registrar, while two minute silence was observed in honour of the late founder.
The programme was attended by visitors, academicians, faculty, staff and students of the university.
