Hectic preparations are on at Lumami village, for the 1st cultural exhibition to be held on October 30 and 31.
The exhibition is being organized by SARK (which stands for S-Sumi, A-Ao, R-Rengma and K-Kyong) on the theme: ‘Fostering unity through Culture’.
Speaking, on the sidelines of the official visit by cultural secretary Imli and assistant general secretary Sashikaba of Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), the village council chairman of Lumami, Shetovi shared his happiness to host 1st cultural exhibition of SARK, on behalf of the Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SKK).
He lamented that most of the traditions and cultures were being forgotten. However, he was optimistic that such exchanges would lead to preservation of one’s rich culture and promote long lasting unity.
Altogether, 400 hundred delegates, hundred each from four tribes would be converging to Lumami village on October 30, where the event would be graced by MLA I Kheto Kinnimi, Toshi Aier (IAS) additional chief secretary to CM and finance commissioner Y L Jami (IAS) Secretary, Land Revenue and Nihoto Chishi, Secretary, Law and Justice, on different occasions.
Apart from various cultural exchanges, paper presentations on the topic: ‘Cultural Similarities with Sumi, Ao, Rengma and Kyong’.
Would be presented by T.C Kithan, Rtd (NCS) Advisor to Kyong Hoho, Prof. Lanunungsang, Nagaland University, where the Sessions would be moderated by Janbemo Humtsoe, director, Green Foundation Wokha and Akok Walling, Asso. Prof., Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung.
