Rock plus announces Mami Varte as special guest

Nagaland state AIDS control society (NSACS) Rock + formally announced Mami Varte as the special guest for grand finale to be held at Dimapur stadium on November 3.

This was stated in a press conference held at Dream cafe Kohima attended by Theja Meru event co-ordinator, Dr.N.L. Changkija NSACS project director and Ayieno Deputy Director NSACS.

Dr. Changkija said the prevalent rate of AIDS among the general population in state was more than 89% from the age group between 15-45, the most productive stage.

Through this Mass Media Campaign (MMC) the message on awareness of HIV&AIDS was very effective especially among the youth, she said.

She lauded Khiamnugan churches in Tuensang for taking active part and extending cooperation in spreading the HIV& AIDS awareness and helping the positive people and also different NGOs and other organizations.

Director said this MMC was not only to spread awareness on HIV&AIDS but also giving platform for the talented young singer to perform.

She opined that the negative conscience should turn to positive in the campaign covering the whole districts of the state and the stigma and discrimination towards the positive people should be eliminated.

NSACS Rock + has covered 7 districts and 4 more to go which includes Wokha, Dimapur, Peren and Kohima.So far 60 bands have registered from 11 districts and the registration for audition is still open for any band who have not perform before for Kohima and Dimapur audition, the organizers informed.

The grand finale would be held on November 3 at Super market Dimapur at 2 p.m. The Naga Blog organized a slogan writing contest where more than 700 entries and 30 slogans were shortlisted and winners were selected through a like voting.

The 10 winners are Khriengunuo Mepfhuo, Inoka Yepthomi, Alam Michelle, Kevi Viswentso, Senti Longkumer, Mhaden Ngullie, Lanu Mollier, Ahongsanba Ningthouj, Ren Murry and Mezhii Mark Ziitso.

The winners residing within the state have been asked to collect the prize T. Shirts from dream cafe Kohima from October 26 and for those who are residing outside the state would be delivered through courier.

It may be mentioned that Mami Varte the special guest is a pop star, youth icon and the face of Mizoram, released her album “Damlai Par” in 2007, worked with the legendary Bhupen Hazarika in a song/video “our North-East our star”, recipient of many awards in Mizoram, recently featured in the “coke studio @MTV” season 2 on MTV performed a song directed and produced by Shantanu Moitra ( the music director of the films 3 Idiots), also shared the stage with beautiful people of the Northeast at the youth leaders connect 2012 recently held at Kohima.
Also members from Australia and UK have confirmed their participation.
