KGSA meet concludes

Xelhozhe defeated Luzheto 3-1 to lift the Kuhuboto Ghakhu Kukami Football trophy besides retaining men’s volleyball title by defeating Old Showuba village in the final. Vihokhu finished third in football while Ghokito, the host village completed top three spot be emerging 2nd runner up in men’s volleyball.

In women’s volleyball event, Hoito got better of Ahozhe in the final to win the Losheli Neho Memorial volleyball trophy while two time champions, Suhoi had to be contented with third place. 

The whole tourney organized by Kuhuboto Ghakhu Sports’ Association and hosted by Ghokito village concluded on Saturday with K. Hollohon, MLA 5th Ghaspani-II gracing the closing function as guest of honour.

Congratulating the sportspersons for their active participation in event, the guest of honour encouraged them to always pursue for excellence as sports also plays a pivotal role in one’s life. He said success come to those who w are hard working and are righteous in life having respects and regard for parents and elders.

He gave away prizes to the winners and also donated a sum of Rs. 50,000 each to the association and host village.
Delivering a short speech, Rijang, GB cum council chairman, Old Showuba village said that the effort of the association or the elders of the area is to see that children of the area excel in sports along with education. 

Also speaking on the occasion, Tokuho Neho, chairman of NYST Foundation, the trophy donor of Losheli Neho Memorial trophy said that the society needs to encourage girls to take up games and sports in larger perspective.

Alex Yepthomi, President, KGSA paid tribute to all those who have responsibly led the association in the past years and presented certificate of appreciation to them. He also proposed vote of thanks.

Individual award winners are: Best player (men’s volleyball) Pikuto of Xelhozhe; best player (women’s volleyball) Kalito Awomi of Hoito; best player (football) Aben of Luzheto; best defender Lutovi of Xelhozhe; best goalkeeper Bokato of Xelhozhe and highest scorer Aben of Luzheto with eight goals.
