NPCC slams Azo; terms statement ‘breach of privilege’

October 28, 2012 | by admin

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) Saturday termed it “irresponsible” the statement of health and family welfare minister Küzholüzo (Azo) Nienu for having stated that in the event of state election 2013 taking place as scheduled, Naga People’s Front (NPF) would “come back to power”.

NPCC pointed out that the Joint Legislators Forum (JLF) resolution was for Naga political solution before the 2013 state general election and therefore any legislator talking about election at this juncture amounted to “breach of privilege” of the joint effort.

Pointing out that talking about solution on one side and election on the other side, showed that NPF legislators were not “serious and sincere” on JLF resolution, NPCC said the least people expected from the legislators was “to resign en masse” in the event JLF resolution was not honored by the negotiating parties before the notification of the election.

NPCC also accused NPF of “deceitfully” trying to claim full credit if an honorable and acceptable solution to the Naga issue was arrived at and to share the blame with the Congress if it was bad.

NPCC said where was the question of NPF alone accepting the solution when the JLF resolution was “a joint effort of all sixty members?.”
NPCC claimed that the NPF’s game plan has been exposed as the latter tried to consolidate its position by playing the JLF resolution card since the NPF knew it was not returning to power should elections be held as scheduled.

Stating that no matter how hard NPF might try, it cannot undo “ten years of misrule”, NPCC asked Azo to forget about his party “returning to power or himself getting re-elected”.

NPCC said as it has mutual respect for NPF as a political party, it would not like to force another embarrassment on the NPF. However, NPCC added that when a person had spoken as a minister and not as an individual, it entailed public responsibility.

Stating that the people had the right to demand action against the minister for his irresponsible acts, NPCC asked NPF to keep tabs on the “media crazy” minister who was known more as “chief guest minister” than the minister for health and family welfare.

It may be mentioned that Azo made the statement while addressing a gathering during the recognition day of Seluophe village, Dimapur on October 25.
