Peren, Wokha DLSC meeting

Peren district conducted its first District Level Standing Committee (DLSC) meeting on January 17 at DC’s conference hall, Peren under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner Peren, Senti Ao.

Briefing the committee members comprising of all registered political parties, Administrative officers/AROs, S.P and others, the chairman said that the Model Code of Conduct came into effect from January 11 and would be enforced till election is completed, consequent upon the announcement of Election to 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Scheduled on February 23.

He urged upon the political parties, government officials and the public to strictly follow the Model Code of Conduct in letter and spirit for free and fair conduct of election in the district.

The members who spoke in the meeting included; Vice Principal of Peren College, Albert spoke on the topic – ‘Election Expenditure Monitoring for various political parties’; SDO (Civil), Albert Ezung spoke on ‘Model Code of Conduct’ issued by Election Commission of India and S.P. Peren, Richard Yimto also spoke on security aspects to be strictly adhered during the election period.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner & DEO, Wokha, Vyasan R., IAS has convened a meeting of the district level standing committee on January 17 at DC’s Conference Hall. Members from different political parties, Kyong Hoho, Kyong Eloe Hoho and members of DLSC attended the meeting.

Chairing the meeting, DC & DEO Wokha, Vyasan R. apprised the members that Model Code of Conduct starts from the date of announcement of election. He impressed upon the members present to see that model code of conduct is implemented in the district.

Later, the chairman also briefed on the election expenditure, opening of bank account by the candidate, mode of meeting, one man, one vote system etc.

He elaborated the important points given in the election expenditure manual, mechanism of appointment of Assistant Expenditure Observer accounting, flying squad, static surveillance, video surveillance, video viewing, expenditure monitoring, control room etc.

President Kyong Hoho, Yansathung Jami also spoke on Model Code of Conduct implementation. He appealed to all political parties to restrain themselves for peaceful atmosphere.

He also informed that the Hoho is all out to ban the use of liquor, opening of youth camps other than the party official.

The meeting ended with a chairman remarks that meeting of standing committee would be held regularly.
