The 19th triennial convention of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council under the theme ‘In step with the spirit’, hosted by the Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA) was launched on January 18.
Rev Keviyiekielie Linyu, president, NBCC declared it open by ceremoniously cutting the ribbon as hundreds of delegates from different associations under NBCC looked on.
The key note speaker, Rev Linyu in tune with the theme deliberated that to be in step with the spirit also means to ‘Walk with God’ and that He does not want us to be alone but to be yoked with Him so that our burdens become lighter.
In conclusion he mentioned that when we are in step with the spirit we will have a willingness to marshal and direct our energies wisely and develop compassion for the marginalized.
The program ended with Sangkap, Pastor, Tuensang Town Baptist Church pronouncing the benediction.
The convention would conclude on January 20, where speakers like Rev. Dr. Phuveyi Dozo, Rev. Dr. W. Pongsing Konyak, Rev. Zhabu Terhuja and Rev. Dr. L. Anjo Keikung will be delivering sermons. Special presentation and seminars on topics like ‘Human trafficking’, ‘Right to Information’ and ‘Clean election’ will also be presented by various resource persons.
There was a ‘spotlight’ presentation by the hosting association, followed by the opening act by Phom Lempong School. NBCC general secretary, Rev. Dr. L. Anjo Keikung introduced and adopted the program.
Arenla Longchar, vice-president, NBCC chaired the program and Y. Nuklu Phom, executive secretary, PBCA greeted the delegates by delivering the welcome speech.
PBCA choir and USBLA, Sangtam Baptist Church, Tuensang delighted the congregation with their special numbers.
