Diseases in livestock are the measure cause of loss to the farmers and particularly in poultry New Castle Disease (Ranikhet Disease) is the most devastating disease and present in both endemic and epidemic forms in different parts of the state. Fowl pox is another viral disease that also incurs productivity loss to farmers.
To tackle these highly contagious diseases a vaccination programme, was organized Krishi Vigyan Kendra Phek on February 5 at Thuvopisu village of Phek district.
The camp was led by Dr. Debojyoti Borkotoky Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science) and assisted by Rokongulie, Veterinary Field Assistant, NRC Mithun and Badan Kachari Technical Grade-1, KVK – Phek.
Local and kroiler birds of the village were vaccinated during the camp. All village youth were provided hand on training on basic immunization techniques in poultry birds to ensure regular and timely vaccination against Ranikhet and fowl pox in the village.
Village Council Chairman expressed gratitude on behalf of the village to the programme coordinator, KVK, Porba and director, NRC Mithun (ICAR) for their valuable service to the farming community of the village.
