Minor girl shot at in Kohima

One minor girl was shot at by two unidentified gunmen at Naga Bazaar Colony here Friday afternoon. The victim, a 16-year-old, hailing from Bihar, is reportedly a shopkeeper who stays with her mother and one younger brother.

According to police sources, the incident occurred after the girl refused to pay Rs. 500 that was demanded by two gunmen. They fled the scene after shooting her with firearm. She suffered bullet injury that passed through her left side arm and chest.

The girl who was admitted at the Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima is stated to be out danger. Police said investigation was on and so far no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

AYO condemns: Strongly condemning the incident, Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has appealed to the public and witnesses (if any) to come forward and assist the law enforcing agencies and local bodies in identifying the perpetrators and apprehending them.

In a press release, AYO president Khrielievi Chüsi said such “an intolerable and disgusting act” where an innocent girl’s life was targeted upon by “inhuman criminals has no place in the society and should be condemned by all.” AYO has wished the victim a speedy recovery.
