The ongoing Spring International Expo 2013 which began March 16 at Dimapur Club with 35 stalls including seven from Thailand, two from Nagaland and the rest from different states of the country entered the 7th day Friday.
The expo displays wide range of products such as coconut candle, bags and accessories, dry flowers, pearls, carpets, Kashmiri handlooms, jewelries, toys, home appliances, decorative furniture and many more.
Talking to Nagaland Post at the venue of the expo, one of the organizing members, Achenbou Niumai, general secretary of Entrepreneurs Partner, Dimapur disclosed the team comprised of educated unemployed youth and the concept behind organizing the expo was to provide employment opportunities to the youth as well as establish business relationship with different states and countries.
Niumai believed such expos provide entrepreneurial opportunities as entrepreneurs from different states of the country and abroad could share ideas in order to improvise their products and also provide a platform to display their products.
He however lamented the fact that though the state has many talented entrepreneurs, they shy away from competing in national or international level events.
President of the Entrepreneurs Partner, Agi said the group organized international expos for the last 3 years with “zero budget” and without any assistance from the state government.
Agi also disclosed that the organization was negotiating with the department of International Trade Promotion (ITP), Thailand, to organize such expos to build relations in terms of trade and investment with the Thai government. The expo would conclude on March 28.
