Reacting to the news of the alleged abduction of an oil-tanker driver from Khuzama, Kohima police Tuesday said an investigation was on establish facts.
In a statement, Kohima police also clarified that on April 21, a convoy of 115 oil tankers bound for Imphal were escorted by personnel of B/78 Bn. CRPF whereby one oil tanker (MN02/6268) which was in serial No. 43 out of the 115 was found parked near NST Garage (Lerie Colony) Kohima.
Police said the convoy escort commander noticed the vehicle without the driver and the handyman. Even after the lapse of about four hours, the driver and the handyman failed to turn up.
Thereafter, the vehicle was placed under the custody of the police, said the statement. Kohima police also added that the convoy escorting the vehicles consisted of one front escort, one middle and two rear escorts were detailed by the B/78 Bn. CRPF.
