District level training on ‘Registration of Birth and Death’ on April 23 at DC conference hall, Phek.
Speaking on the training programme, the deputy commissioner Phek, Anoop Khichi said birth and death are the two most important vital events that defined life of an individual.
He informed that registration of birth and death was made mandatory with the enactment of RBD Act, 1969 and that it falls under concurrent list of the constitution of India. The DC then asked the registrars to give more importance on the matter.
Deputy director of economics and statistics, Rewelhi Kronu also stressed on the importance and uses of birth and death registration saying that birth certificate was required as a legal proof of age in school, job, acquiring driving license, passport etc. while death certificate was used for claiming pension benefits, insurance claims, property settlements etc.
