OST seminar seeks community support and encouragement

Need for support and encouragement for all sections of the community so as to bring changes amongst the drug user through Oral Substitution Therapy (OST) was highlighted, Monday at OST semiar, Mokokchung.

This  was highlighted by medical officer, OST, Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Dr. I Tia during the seminar organized by OST at IMDH collaboration with care & support society and care counseling centre, Mokokchung under the theme ‘Rejuvenate’ at OST centre Mokokchung.  Dr. Tia also highlighted the significance and importance of OST.

Former drug user, Sepeli Sangtam, while sharing his experiences, testified that he indulged in drugs for more than 25 years; however after being treated at OST, he said he was now leading a clean and better life.

He then encouraged all the drug users who were yet to start OST to avail the chance at the earliest without any hesitation and also asked the community to support OST clients morally and spiritually.

It may be noted that the Oral Substitution Therapy (OST) centre is attached at IMDH Mokokchung.
Till date, the OST centre have 74 registered clients out of which 50 are availing OST treatment regularly.
