ZYF vows to protect rights, land, resources

Eleventh general assembly of Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) Assam, Manipur & Nagaland concluded in Jalukie town on April 30.

Deliberating on issues facing the Zeliangrongs, in the first session which was chaired by Johny Newme, Secretary ZYF (N), ZUF affirmed its commitment to uphold the unity of the community, protect and preserve the lives of its people, land and resources.

It also resolved to work with Zeliangrong Baudi, the apex people’s mandated organisation.
Discussing on issues pertaining to its land and resources particularly Intangki National Park, ZUF has expressed apprehension over encroachers and has declared its resolute stand not to part away with even an inch of its rightful land.

The meet, while reviewing its past activities and progress, reiterated the need to establish and enact strong land laws so that the rightful land and boundaries of the Zeliangrongs in the three states of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland is undisputed.

The second session was chaired by Raitu Chawang, President Zeliangrong baudi (AMN) as election commissioner.

Titus Kamei was elected as president (AMN), Peusuibe Chuilo, vice president (Nagaland), Marcus Kamson as vice president (Manipur) and K. Subash as general secretary. The assembly was also attended by several officers and leaders of the community.
