Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) in reference to the statement made by former ENSF speaker, Throngso Yimchungru in the local dailies on April 29 under the caption “Apr 19 victim issue statement” termed the incident as an “uncivilized and barbaric act” inflicted on an innocent citizen and a leader of Eastern Nagaland by some NSCN IM cadres.
KSU, vice president, Joseph Konyak and general secretary Manwang Konyak in a release stated no Naga political group or individual should “challenge the authority” of the Eastern leaders or the organization, adding, such “defamatory speech” and actions were “never expected at any cause”.
The union also said that if the matter was not rectified now, then the situation would get worse in the future.
The union while extending its full support on the stand made by ENPO and ENSF representing the 6 tribes of Eastern Nagaland, asked all right thinking citizens to condemn such act of cowardice.
The union further appealed to the Collective Leadership of NSCN IM to intimate action taken report on the joint representation submitted by the frontal Organisation ENPO and ENSF and to consider the statement given by the victim on priority and hoped that the culprits would be given “befitting punishment so that such act is never repeated in future”.
