All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA), Mokokchung, at an emergency executive meeting held on May 4 resolved to support the decision made by NSF and ENSF to exempt/refrain from non-payment of tax to any factions of national workers/organizations both in “letter and spirit”.
According to a press release issued by the association’s president, M.I Temjen, the matter was resolved on the facts that the teachers support their families on a teacher’s salary, and any such deductions/ taxes affecting their family budget may result in resorting to “extra loans for the recovery”.
Meanwhile, All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) also supported the decision taken by NSF and ENSF for resolving not to allow any form of tax imposition on educational institutions especially on teachers.
Stating that ANSTA Peren was proud to have such “dynamic and courageous” student leaders working for the welfare of the students community having concern for the teachers, the association in a press release issued by its president, Kailadingbo Nchang, stated that education was the only instrument for transforming society for which a conducive environment should be provided to teachers to impart education to the students and the coming young generation who are the future of the country.
WAGSTU also extended its fullest support to the stand of NSF, ENSF and ANSTA to refrain from paying taxes to any political group in the name of national workers.
Thepfükuokho, vice president, WAGSTU and general secretary, WAGSTU, Kekoyato Nisa in a release, appealed to the national workers of all “shades” to conscientiously give due regard to the sentiments of the teachers and spare the rod of harassment against the school teachers.
WAGSTU stated that teachers should be free from physical, mental and emotional harassment in order to give their best to the society at large, and particularly to the school children including the children of the national workers.
Given the fact that almost all the children in Government schools are not from well to do family as such many of their needs are looked after by the teachers and with the introduction of communitization of school, WAGSTU said, for the welfare of the society, the teachers contribute employ additional teacher wherever there is shortage of techer in their respective school.
