
Training for 2nd batch on ‘Tobacco Control Laws for Enforcement Officers’ organised by District Tobacco Control Cell Dimapur concluded on May 4 at Bookmarc Conference Hall.
Chairing the program, Rev Joe, Chairman PNF said that all laws would be incomplete without a human approach and that one must correct oneself first so as to correct others.
Dr. Ritu Thurr, deputy CMO cum district nodal Officer (NTCP) oriented the participants on the harmful effects of tobacco use, while Dr. Savino, additional director cum state nodal officer (NTCP) spoke on Implementation of COTPA ACT.
Public Prosecutor, Hutoi Yepthomi highlighted on the legal aspect of tobacco control laws and said that more awareness needed to be created to make the public aware of the legal implications before issuing fines and challans to defaulters.
The training was attended by officers representing various government departments and private institutions.
