A four-member team of officials from the office of Auditor General, Kohima, representing the Comptroller and Auditor General of India visited ten villages under Kuhuboto RD Block in Dimapur district on May 22 and 23 and carried out performance audit of Indira Awas Yojna (Rural Housing Scheme).
AG officials comprising of K.M. Senior Audit Officer, D.K. Singh and A. Neli, both Assistant Audit Officer and J.K. Meetei, Senior Auditor interviewed IAY beneficiaries and secretaries of village development boards and collected data including photographs to prepare report for central and state as well.
The objectives of the performance audit were to ascertain whether funds allocated were being received and utilized as per the guidelines, identification and selection of beneficiaries are as per the norms prescribed, dwelling units are constructed/upgraded to the benefit of the rural households, and adequate system existed for monitoring, evaluation and control.
It may be mentioned that with technical guidance and positive encouragement from RD block level officials, the rural housing scheme in the villages under RD Block Kuhuboto have created positive impact as individuals are also said to have come forward contributing towards the improvement of rural dwellings.
Auditors were led by Kashiho Sangtam, DPO, DRDA Dimapur, Phoishe, BDO, RD Block Kuhuboto and Tokiho Chophy, JE, RD Block Kuhuboto. Villages that were covered by audit officials were Henivi, Old Showuba, Xelhozhe, Xekiye, Nihoto, Suhoi, Hevishe, L. Hotovi, Tokugha and S. Hotovi.
