State unit Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has appealed to both governments of Assam and Nagaland to resolve the border issue and instill confidence among the people of the two states.
The intermittent “communal upheavals in the inter-state border” came up for discussion during a meeting of district unit presidents along with state NCP president Neiba Ndang, at its party office, Kuda village Friday.
The participating members felt that the problems arising out of issues in the border also affected the people of the state.
The meeting also discussed the uncertainty prevailing over continuation of JetKonnect air services. State NCP has also appealed to the government to look into the matter by holding talks with the Jet Airways so that air services were not withdrawn from the state.
NCP also appealed to all the Naga political groups to restrain from indulging in violence but to work in unity towards finding a lasting peace.
Meanwhile, state NCP has announced that it would observe its 15th foundation day on June 10 in all the district headquarters.
