Taking note of the poor results of government schools in the HSLC examination, All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA) has suggested corrective measures for academic improvement of government schools in future.
In a letter to the principal director, school education, ANTSA pointed out that the main “causative factors” responsible for the poor results of government schools were due to shortage of requisite number of the subject teachers; insincerity of the teachers; irregularity/absence of the heads; weakness of school administration; poor quality/background of the students and failure of higher-ups to take action against the erring teachers/heads.
ANTSA suggested that to improve the poor performance required number of teachers be posted to all the teacher deficit schools; conduct regular school inspection by field inspecting officers; curb the practice of proxy teacher; formulate teacher’s recruitment policy etc.
